American Airlines has suspended several employees after three black men were removed from a flight due to a complaint about body odour. The men are suing the airline for racial discrimination. CEO Robert Isom called the incident "unacceptable" and stated that the company "fell short" of its commitment to customers. The airline has taken steps to prevent such incidents in the future, including forming an advisory group focused on the experience of black passengers. This is not the first time American Airlines has faced discrimination allegations, with the NAACP previously warning black travellers to avoid the airline. The men involved in the recent incident, Alvin Jackson, Emmanuel Jean Joseph, and Xavier Veal, were eventually allowed back on the flight. The airline is working to rebuild trust with civil rights organisations like the NAACP. However, the NAACP has warned that they may reinstate their warning unless American Airlines takes swift action.
