Bryan expressed that Disney has been tight-lipped about the future of the judging panel, leaving himself, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest unsure about their return. Perry, Bryan, and Richie joined the show in Season 16, with Bryan praising Perry for being perfect for the job. While Perry announced her exit to focus on her music career, Trainor has expressed on Watch What Happens Live that being a judge on American Idol would be her dream job. Pink, however, has stated that she prefers her current job and does not enjoy potentially hurting people's feelings.
