The investigation into the death of Friends star Matthew Perry could result in federal or state charges against those who provided him with drugs, reports say. Sources within the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the inquiry into the suppliers of the ketamine that led to Perry's death is nearing its end. The U.S. Attorney's Office will decide on potential federal charges or refer the case to state prosecutors. Last month, the LAPD confirmed that the investigation remains active with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Perry, who was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023, had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety. His autopsy revealed the cause of death as the acute effects of ketamine, along with drowning and other contributing factors. Perry had written about his experience with ketamine infusions in his memoir, detailing feelings of disassociation and believing he was "dying."
