Totally Cool Inc. has issued a recall of 68 ice cream products across 13 brands after potential contamination with listeria was discovered, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported. The ice cream manufacturer based in Owings Mills, Maryland, has put a stop to production and distribution of the affected products following FDA sampling that revealed presence of listeria monocytogenes. These products were distributed nationwide and available in retail locations and direct delivery, but no illnesses have been reported thus far. Consumers are urged to return recalled items for a full refund and can contact Totally Cool for more information. Listeriosis, caused by Listeria monocytogenes, can result in symptoms ranging from a fever and muscle aches to more severe manifestations like headaches, confusion, and even death, particularly affecting vulnerable populations like pregnant women.
