Display analyst Ross Young predicts that MacBook Pro models with an M4 chip will launch in the fourth quarter of 2024, with panel shipments set to begin in the third quarter. Apple initiated its M4 chip refresh with the M4 iPad Pro in May and is now planning to incorporate the M4 chip in the MacBook Pro and Mac mini lineups this year. The 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to receive an entry-level M4 chip, while the 14-inch and 16-inch models will likely be updated with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. The Mac mini is also set to get M4 and M4 Pro chips. The M4 chip boasts an upgraded 3-nanometer node, offering up to 25 percent faster multi-core performance than the previous generation. While OLED display technology is in the works, it is not expected to be featured in MacBook Pro models until 2026.
