Fans quickly identified her online after searching for a key phrase used by the character in the show. Despite Netflix's disclaimer that certain elements were fictionalized, Harvey seeks $170 million in damages, accusing the streaming service of breaching its duty of care and insufficiently disguising her identity. Netflix intends to vigorously defend the lawsuit, stating they stand by creator Richard Gadd's right to tell his story. Harvey contends that the portrayal of her relationship with Gadd departs from reality, emphasizing that she only met him a few times and sent him a few emails.
