Nintendo surprised fans with the announcement of the latest installment in the 40-year-old Zelda saga, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, set to release on the Switch console on 26 September. In a webcast, producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that players will control Princess Zelda for the first time ever, as she takes on the protagonist role while searching for the missing Link. With over 140 million sales since its debut in 1986, Zelda remains a highly popular franchise, with last year’s Tears of the Kingdom selling 10 million copies within three days. The new game features cartoon-style graphics reminiscent of Link's Awakening, a departure from the realistic visuals of its predecessor. Known for pioneering open-world gaming, Zelda continues to influence the industry with its immersive gameplay and beloved characters.
