'Renauld White, Trailblazing Black Model and Iconic Actor from ‘Guiding Light’, Passes Away at 80'

Renauld White, a pioneering Black model and actor known for his roles on "The Guiding Light" and as the second Black model to grace the cover of GQ, passed away at the age of 80 on June 26th. He had been in hospice care at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. White, who also worked with acclaimed designers such as Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren, broke barriers in the fashion industry during a time when Black models were rare. Fashion designer Jeffrey Banks described White as a trailblazer who opened doors for others in the industry. In addition to his modeling career, White appeared in films and off-Broadway productions. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, White's funeral is scheduled for July 12th at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark. His legacy as a pioneering figure in the fashion industry and entertainment world will be remembered and celebrated by those who knew him.
