Former President Donald Trump's media company, Trump Media, experienced a substantial decline in its stock price, with shares closing nearly 15% lower on Thursday. The company's stock, traded under the symbol DJT on the Nasdaq, saw a significant drop to $26.75 per share, marking a more than 40% decrease from the beginning of June when it was valued at over $49 per share.
The sharp decline in the stock price coincided with heightened trading activity, with over 13.2 million shares exchanged - more than three times the average volume. This downward trend follows Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and the SEC's approval of Trump Media's registration statement. The company's majority owner, Trump himself, faced a substantial on-paper loss as the value of his shares plummeted from over $5.6 billion to approximately $3.2 billion.
