Ford is preparing to take the Mustang to Le Mans in GT3 racing trim, and in celebration, they have released new details about the upcoming street-legal version – the Mustang GTD. The Performance pack, focusing on weight and aerodynamics, includes dive planes, a large splitter, a drag reduction system for the rear wing, underbody flaps, and magnesium wheels. The company believes these upgrades will help the GTD achieve a sub-seven-minute lap at the Nurburgring. In addition to the Performance pack, Ford will offer a Lightweight pack and a special Carbon Series with unpainted carbon fiber body panels. The interior features premium materials, Recaro seats, and advanced technology such as a front-axle lift feature. Anticipation is high, with over 7,500 applications received from the US and Canada. Production is limited to around 1,400 units, with an estimated starting price of over $325,000. Applications for European buyers will open soon.
