Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville has been recused from the high-profile racketeering and gang conspiracy trial involving rapper Young Thug and five associates. This decision follows allegations that Glanville held a secret meeting with prosecutors and a key witness, undermining the impartiality of the case. Despite Glanville finding no wrongdoing in the meeting, Judge Rachel Krause ruled that public confidence in the judicial system required Glanville's removal. Young Thug's attorney, Brian Steel, emphasized the importance of a fair trial and impartial judge in clearing his client's name. The trial, already the longest in Georgia's history, faces further delays and uncertainty as a new judge takes over. The case centers on accusations that Young Thug headed a gang with ties to the Bloods organization, with prosecutors using song lyrics as evidence. Defense lawyers maintain that Young Thug's involvement with the gang is solely for artistic purposes.
