Target to Discontinue Acceptance of This Payment Method Soon

Beginning later this month, Target will no longer accept personal checks as a form of payment due to extremely low volumes of such transactions. The decision comes as part of several money-saving measures the retail giant has implemented in response to thefts impacting their bottom line. The change will go into effect on July 15, following the conclusion of Target’s Circle Week sales event. Despite eliminating personal checks, Target will continue to accept cash, credit and debit cards, Target Circle Cards, digital wallets, SNAP/EBT cards, and buy now-pay later services. This move reflects Target's commitment to streamlining payment processes and increasing security for customers. Additionally, in an effort to combat theft, Target has imposed a 10-item limit for customers using self-checkout and recently lowered the amount at which store staff should intervene with suspected thieves. Target's CFO anticipates shoplifting to remain a significant financial challenge for the company moving forward.
