The Russian Wrestling Federation has announced that ten Russian wrestlers invited to compete as neutral athletes at the Paris Olympics will not be participating due to the exclusion of leading wrestlers like Abdulrashid Sadulaev and Zaurbek Sidakov. The RWF stated that the selection process by the International Olympic Committee was unsportsmanlike and aimed at undermining the unity of the Russian team. The federation expressed disappointment that top Russian wrestlers were left off the invitation list, resulting in the devaluation of the Olympic event and emphasizing the incomplete nature of the wrestling competition without Russian athletes. This decision follows Russian cyclist Aleksandr Vlasov's withdrawal from the Olympics last month. Russian and Belarusian athletes are only allowed to compete as neutrals due to the war in Ukraine, with strict criteria set by the IOC for their participation. The Paris Olympics, from July 26 to Aug. 11, will now proceed without Russian wrestlers, impacting the overall competition.
