Kroger and Albertsons have revealed plans to sell 26 stores in Dallas-Fort Worth to C&S Wholesale Grocers as part of their proposed merger. This comes after the FTC scrutinized the merger, ultimately resulting in the plan to sell 579 stores nationwide to satisfy regulators. The sold stores in North Texas include Tom Thumb, Albertsons, and Market Street locations. C&S is committed to keeping all stores open and retaining employees. The company operates warehouses and a select number of stores under various brands, including Piggly Wiggly and Grand Union. This deal allows C&S to operate under the Albertsons brand in certain states. The fate of the Texas stores and the name they will operate under remains uncertain. C&S currently has distribution centers in Texas, demonstrating its commitment to expanding operations in the state.
