Actor Alec Baldwin is currently facing involuntary manslaughter charges in relation to the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in October 2021. Baldwin, who denies the charges, arrived at a New Mexico courthouse for the start of his trial, accompanied by family members. The trial will determine if he should be held criminally responsible for the incident, where a gun he was handling went off during a rehearsal, fatally striking Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Prosecutors allege Baldwin failed to ensure the gun was safe, while his defence argues it was the responsibility of other crew members. The trial is set to last 10 days, with Baldwin's testimony still uncertain. The case has raised questions about firearm safety on film sets and the responsibilities of actors in handling weapons.
