Amtrak and New Jersey Transit have resumed service after facing challenges with a power outage and overhead wire issues on Thursday. Amtrak temporarily suspended services between New Haven and Philadelphia due to a circuit breaker malfunction near New York Penn Station, causing significant delays. NJ Transit also experienced a service suspension into and out of New York Penn Station due to a brushfire near the New Jersey Turnpike, resulting in up to 30-minute delays. Midtown Direct trains no longer divert to Hoboken, and rail tickets are being cross-honored. These disruptions follow previous issues with overhead wires earlier in the week, leading to delays and line suspensions. Governor Phil Murphy has expressed concern over the transit issues and promises to investigate further. The disruptions coincided with an upcoming fare hike, adding to commuter frustrations.
