Recent reports from both the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg have shed light on Apple's discussions with Meta about integrating AI models into their devices. However, Apple's spokesperson, Mark Gurman, has denied any plans of such a partnership, revealing that talks were held back in March but the idea was eventually discarded due to privacy concerns and potential damage to Apple's reputation because of Meta's questionable privacy practices. Instead, Apple has unveiled its own Apple Intelligence brand with a range of AI features and has partnered with OpenAI for certain queries. While the company is open to integration with different AI models, it has confirmed a collaboration with Google to deploy Gemini. Despite not directly integrating with Apple devices, Meta will lean on its popular apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Messenger to reach billions of users. Just recently, Meta rolled out its AI chatbot in India, one of its largest markets.
