Apple has announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT directly into Siri on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia to provide better responses. While no cash is exchanging hands, Apple will promote OpenAI's brand and technology to millions of its devices, potentially increasing the cost for OpenAI as more users utilize ChatGPT. OpenAI may profit by encouraging users to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for $20 a month, with Apple potentially receiving a commission for sign-ups. Apple also plans to share revenue with partners like Google's Gemini chatbot, aiming to monetize chatbot results on its operating systems and reduce reliance on search engines. While Apple aims to expand its AI offerings internationally, Apple Intelligence will initially only be available in U.S. English with plans for additional language support in the future.
