At WWDC 2023, Apple announced its AirPlay expansion to hotels, eventually launching with iOS 17.3 in January, starting with IHG Hotels & Resorts and LG TVs. Now, Samsung is following suit by introducing AirPlay support to its family of hospitality TVs starting with HBU8000 models. Samsung's integration of AirPlay aims to enhance the in-room experience for hotel guests and provide management tools for hotel operators. Guests can easily connect their iPhone or iPad to the in-room TV using AirPlay by scanning a unique QR code, without the need for a password or app download. While details on expanding AirPlay to other Samsung hospitality TV models are scarce, it is likely to happen soon. Stay tuned for updates on AirPlay's hotel expansion beyond IHG locations. Check IHG's website for a list of locations supporting AirPlay.
