Apple recently approved the free PC emulator "UTM SE" for the App Store on iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro, allowing users to run old versions of Windows OS, macOS, Linux, and more on Apple devices. The app offers unique features like VGA mode support, terminal mode, and emulation of various architectures. Despite initial rejection in June due to policy violations, including rules regarding retro game emulators and notarization guidelines, UTM SE was eventually approved with some changes. With guidance for Windows XP through Windows 11 emulation and downloads of pre-built virtual Linux machines, users can access classic software and games on their Apple devices. This approval comes after collaboration with the AltStore team and other developers to improve the app. UTM SE can now be downloaded directly from the App Store, providing a new way for users to enjoy nostalgia on their Apple devices.
