After a public complaint from Epic Games about Apple repeatedly rejecting their Epic Games Store application in the European Union, Apple has signed off on the store's submission. Epic Games accused Apple of violating E.U. law by rejecting the submission twice due to similarities with Apple's own App Store. The Epic Games Store, where consumers can buy games like Fortnite, faced rejection for having buttons labeled "Install" and "In-app purchases" deemed too similar to Apple's labels. The backlash from Epic Games on social media led to Apple finally accepting their submission, allowing development to resume. Apple has asked Epic Games to make the Marketplace less similar to the App Store in the future. This incident adds to Epic Games' ongoing battle against app store companies like Apple and Google over revenue-sharing practices, which have also drawn the attention of the E.U. commission for potential noncompliance.
