Apple is set to revolutionize the AirPods experience by introducing built-in infrared cameras by 2026, aimed at enhancing augmented-reality features in their headsets. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's report suggests that these cameras could provide spatial audio improvements when paired with Apple's Vision Pro goggles. Additionally, the cameras could bring "in-air" gestures to AirPods and possibly even a facial recognition feature similar to FaceID. This move would align with Apple's history of evolving their earbuds with wireless connectivity, noise cancellation, and smart features over the years. While there have been hints at AirPods with health-tracking capabilities, Apple has not ventured into this area yet. The addition of cameras to AirPods would further solidify Apple's position as a leader in innovative and high-tech earbud technology.
