Apple has released the second betas of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to developers for testing, following the recent WWDC 2024 keynote. These updates bring Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI features enhancing Siri, search, and more. Notably, Siri gains improved natural language understanding and integration with ChatGPT. Additional features include app rearrangement on the Home screen, a dark mode for icons, and customizable Control Center with third-party controls. Messages now supports RCS for better conversations with Android users and has new features like scheduled texts and satellite messaging. A new Passwords app and app locking with Face ID round out the privacy enhancements. Safari introduces a highlights feature, while Photos and Notes receive interface updates. The updates also include a Tap to Cash feature, game mode, and head gestures for Siri interactions on AirPods. A public beta will be available in July, with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 set for a fall release.
