LG Display, the producer of OLED panels for Apple's latest iPad Pro models, has introduced a groundbreaking 13-inch tandem OLED panel designed specifically for laptops. These panels combine two stacks of red, green, and blue organic light emitting layers to offer improved durability and performance over traditional single-layer OLED panels. The innovative design reduces power consumption by 40% and enables three times the brightness. The panel is also 40% thinner and 28% lighter than existing OLED laptop screens, enhancing portability and aesthetics.
This high-definition panel features a WQXGA+ resolution and 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy, certified by the Digital Cinema Initiatives. Additionally, it has been validated by the Video Electronics Standards Association as Display HDR True Black 500, providing exceptional contrast and enhancing image quality. Although MacBooks currently do not have OLED displays, rumors suggest that Apple is working on integrating OLED screens into future models, with the possibility of a touchscreen MacBook Pro in 2025. LG Display has also incorporated touch sensors into their latest tandem OLED panels to improve touch performance.
