Auto dealerships across the country, including in Baton Rouge, are dealing with the aftermath of a cyber incident at CDK Global. This event, described as a "ransom event," caused service disruptions at around 15,000 dealerships nationwide. Mercedes-Benz of Baton Rouge is one local dealership affected by the outage, with the general manager and co-owner, Nick Pentas, revealing that they are currently relying on manual methods like Excel spreadsheets due to the software shutdown. Despite CDK Global's efforts to restore service, Pentas remains cautious and plans to thoroughly review security measures before going back online. The dealership is hopeful for a resolution within the next five to seven business days. Pentas also mentions that they will assess their options, including considering alternatives to CDK Global software, at an upcoming summit. The financial impact of the outage is still uncertain, but Pentas believes there will be some loss.
