The Biden administration is investing $504 million in implementation grants to support the development of technology hubs in Ohio, Montana, Nevada, and Florida. These hubs will focus on areas such as quantum computing, biomanufacturing, lithium batteries, computer chips, and personal medicine. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo emphasized the importance of spreading technological innovation across the country, rather than concentrating it in a few metro areas. The goal is to tap into the potential of smart people, entrepreneurs, and research institutions nationwide to compete in the tech sectors that will define the 21st-century global economy. Funding from the Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration will support 12 tech hubs, including those focused on quantum technology, biotechnology, and sustainable polymers. President Biden designated 31 tech hubs in October 2023, and the administration is advocating for more funding to ensure all hubs have the resources they need to succeed.
