CNN is undergoing significant changes to boost its digital presence and reduce reliance on its cable news channel. In an effort to strengthen its online offerings, the company is cutting around 100 jobs, merging TV and digital news teams, and focusing on delivering news through social media and other digital platforms. The newly formed “Global News organization” aims to improve efficiency and collaboration among domestic and international news desks. CNN CEO Mark Thompson is also prioritizing AI integration, video content, and the launch of new ad-supported streaming channels. Additionally, CNN.com will introduce a direct-to-consumer subscription product later this year, expanding its range of paid offerings. By restructuring its news operations and investing in digital innovations, CNN is positioning itself for success in an increasingly digital-centric media landscape.
