Paramount Global recently made the decision to remove the extensive library of content on the Comedy Central website, spanning 25 years, in a strategic move to drive fans to their streaming service Paramount+. This includes removing clips from popular shows like “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.” The decision follows a similar move to pull archives of MTV News and articles from CMT from the internet. The site now directs fans to Paramount+ for their favorite Comedy Central shows, although some older episodes are not available on the platform. This decision comes as a result of Paramount Global facing financial challenges and exploring strategies like job cuts and potential asset sales to manage their debt. The removal of the Comedy Central content is part of a larger effort to streamline their online presence and drive traffic to Paramount+.
