PhoneBuff recently conducted a battery test comparing the M1 Pro MacBook Pro to the Surface 7, both priced at $2,000 and offering similar features like 14-inch displays with 120Hz refresh rates and high-end silicon from Apple and Qualcomm. The MacBook Pro boasts a higher resolution display and larger battery capacity compared to the Surface 7, while also featuring a 6-speaker sound system. Despite leading in battery life throughout the test, the MacBook Pro began draining faster during gaming due to higher frame rates. In the end, the Surface 7 outlasted the MacBook Pro by 7 minutes, largely due to its optimized performance with a smaller battery. PhoneBuff suggests that the difference in battery life is negligible and highlights the impressive performance of the Surface 7 given its constraints.
