Disney is facing a lawsuit alleging that the company promised 2,000 California employees new jobs in Florida, prompting them to uproot their lives, only to abruptly cancel the plans and leave them jobless. The lawsuit, which has not yet been filed, claims that two employees sold their homes and relocated to Florida for the construction of a planned $1 billion campus, only to have their positions canceled along with the entire project. Disney employees Maria De La Cruz and George Fong were forced to move back to California to keep their jobs, raising concerns about job security. The lawsuit seeks to enter a class-action lawsuit with others affected, arguing that Disney misled employees about the project’s future. This comes after previous criticism of Disney's low wages for employees in California, prompting some to form a union.
