In response to Gov. Gavin Newsom signing a law that prohibits notifying parents of a child's gender identification change, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced plans to relocate both SpaceX and X headquarters from California to Texas. Musk cited the new student transgender law as the reason for the move, stating that it was the "final straw" in a series of laws attacking families and companies. In a past incident, Musk's daughter legally changed her name and gender to Vivian Jenna Wilson, a decision seemingly influenced by educational institutions Musk blamed as "neo-Marxists". Additionally, Musk endorsed former President Donald Trump and plans to support a pro-Trump super PAC with $45 million per month, with Trump expected to roll back transgender rights if re-elected. Despite the move, SpaceX did not confirm if Hawthorne operations would be shut down, following a similar relocation by Tesla to Austin in 2021.
