Exciting News: Affordable Snapdragon X PCs on the Horizon, with a Catch

Tech & AI | June 17, 2024, 7:43 p.m.

Qualcomm is reportedly developing a low-cost Snapdragon X chip, set to target devices priced between $599 to $799. This new processor, codenamed Canim, is expected to launch in Q4 2025. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed this information, stating that it will offer the same AI power as the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus. However, the downside is that affordable Snapdragon X PCs won't be available anytime soon, with a release date more than a year away. It remains unclear what sacrifices will be made to achieve a lower cost, such as fewer CPU cores or a less powerful GPU. For now, consumers may have to wait for current devices to see price cuts or opt for the premium Snapdragon X PCs set to launch soon.
