Roguelike games are rising in popularity, with titles like Hades 2, Cult of the Lamb, and Prince of Persia incorporating elements of the genre. Diablo 4 is now joining the trend with its new wave-based roguelike mode, Infernal Hordes. In this mode, players collect Burning Aether to purchase gear at the end of each run while facing hordes of enemies in 90-second waves. Surviving waves allows players to choose temporary upgrades before moving on to the next challenge. Defeating all waves unlocks a battle against members of the Fell Council, rewarding more Burning Aether. Players can spend their collected Aether on Spoils of Hell, offering equipment, gold, and unique items. The mode will debut in Season 5, available for testing on the Public Test Realm before being fully implemented with new quests and items in the game.
