Apple's plan to release four iPhone 16 models this year has been confirmed through a code discovery in Apple's backend. The code shared with MacRumors indicates that all four models will feature the same A-series chip. The identifiers for these new iPhones, iPhone17,1 through iPhone17,5, all start with the same number, suggesting a uniform chip for all models, unlike the previous iPhone 15 lineup which had different chips for different models. Apple's consistent identifier numbering scheme ties identifiers to chips used in the devices. With the upcoming iPhone 16 models expected to feature the A18 chip, Apple may differentiate between standard models and Pro models by using variations of the A18 chip. This move aligns with Apple's focus on enhancing machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities, as seen in its Apple Intelligence features set to debut in iOS 18.
