Following a complaint from the French Football Federation, FIFA has launched an investigation into racist and homophobic chants by Enzo Fernandez and other Argentine players after the Copa America final. The chants, directed at French striker Kylian Mbappé, were captured in a video posted on social media by Fernandez. Chelsea has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Fernandez, who has since apologized for his actions. FIFA strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and is taking the incident seriously. The French Football Federation has also expressed outrage over the chants, which date back to the 2022 World Cup final. Chelsea, as well as the football governing bodies, are committed to addressing and eliminating discriminatory behavior in the sport. Fernandez's apology and disciplinary actions taken by the club demonstrate a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination. The investigation continues as FIFA seeks to address and prevent such behavior in football.
