Teddy Solomon, co-founder of Fizz, utilized the Stanford community on the platform to furnish his room after moving to a new house in Palo Alto. Fizz, an anonymous social media platform, has grown rapidly from a dozen colleges to 240 campuses and 60 high schools, with plans to open a marketplace for students to buy and sell various items. Solomon aims to provide a safe space for Gen Z users to engage in transactions without the risks associated with platforms like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. However, Fizz has faced challenges with maintaining a safe environment, leading to the voluntary shutdown of some communities. Despite efforts to increase content moderation and utilizing technology from OpenAI, concerns about toxicity on anonymous platforms persist. Nevertheless, Fizz continues to prioritize growth and user experience within its expanding network of users.
