11 Bit Studios has made the difficult decision to delay the highly anticipated Frostpunk 2 from July 25, 2024 to September 20, 2024. This city-survival sequel is set in a grim, frozen world 30 years after a devastating blizzard hit Earth. IGN got a sneak peek at the first three hours of the game and described it as “brutal, cruel, and very fun.”
The developer cited feedback from a recent beta test and the need to prioritize certain features as the reasons for the delay. Players can expect new game mechanics, improved UI/UX, and a new feature called Zoom Stories, allowing a closer look at the daily lives of inhabitants. Initial reception to these updates has been positive.
While disappointing, 11 Bit Studios believes that the extra time will result in a more polished and engaging game for players to enjoy from day one. Fans can anticipate more updates leading up to the release date.
