OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming Nord 4 will receive 4 Android upgrades and 6 years of security patches, setting a new standard for mid-range devices. This is one more year of security updates compared to the flagship OnePlus 12. The Chinese OEM has been steadily improving its software update policies, with the Nord 4 joining the Pad 2, Watch 2R, and Nord Buds 3 Pro in a launch event on July 16. While OnePlus still lags behind Google and Samsung, who offer 7 platform upgrades and 7 years of security updates, the company's commitment to longer software support for its devices is a positive step. With Google's Pixel 8a also offering extensive software support, OnePlus will need to continue this trend to compete in the mid-range segment. Stay tuned for more updates during the Summer Launch Event.
