Google is rolling out new Gemini AI features in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive to help users write emails, summarize information, and generate content. The integration allows users to receive suggested responses, ask questions, and find specific information within their emails and Drive files.
Gemini in Gmail provides prompts to help with queries but also allows users to ask their own questions, such as retrieving a PO number or company expenses. These features are available to Google Workspace customers with specific add-ons or subscriptions.
In Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive, the Gemini side panel assists with writing, summarizing, brainstorming, creating content, generating slides, organizing data, and getting quick facts. However, access to these features requires a paid Gemini subscription.
Google's move to incorporate generative AI features aligns with industry trends, with other tech giants like Meta and Apple introducing similar capabilities in their apps and services. This push towards integrating AI into everyday products may face resistance from some users.
