Google introduces Gemini for students and Read Aloud feature for desktop Chrome

At the recent ISTE 2024 education conference, Google unveiled new features for schools, including the Gemini platform that will provide extra data protection for students using Workspace for Education accounts in over 100 countries. Gemini offers personalized reading activities, real-time support for reading skills through Read Along, and insights on reading accuracy and comprehension for educators. Google is also expanding its capabilities with upcoming features like personalized storytelling for students and the integration of Meet and Assignments into third-party learning management systems.
Additionally, Google announced updates to Chrome browser's Reading Mode, adding a Read Aloud feature with various voices and playback speeds. ChromeOS now includes augmented image labels for screen readers, and Google Classroom assignments will appear in the shelf calendar. Looking ahead, Google plans to introduce new controls for ChromeOS using facial expressions and head movements.
