Google's recent Maps UI updates are now live on Android devices, showcasing a new "sheet-based" design and changes to the directional search feature. The update includes a revamped mode switcher at the bottom of the UI and an extendable sheet at the bottom of the app to provide users with more information on locations they search for.
This overhaul follows months of development and testing, with Google rolling out the changes incrementally. Users can now expect a more interactive and informative experience when using Google Maps on their Android devices.
In addition to the UI changes, Google has also teased upcoming Gen AI features for Maps, promising enhanced location-finding capabilities and pre-made options based on user preferences. While the web-based Google Maps Timeline feature is being phased out, Android users can look forward to its integration on mobile devices soon.
