Hawaiian Lifeguard Fatally Attacked by Shark While Surfing on Oahu

A tragic incident occurred off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii, when professional lifeguard Tamayo Perry was fatally attacked by a shark while surfing near Goat Island. The 49-year-old lifeguard, who worked for the City and County of Honolulu Ocean Safety, tragically lost his life in the shark attack. Emergency services responded to the scene after a witness reported the incident, with lifeguards bringing Perry to shore where paramedics pronounced him dead. Perry, a beloved and respected member of the community, had been a lifeguard on the North Shore since 2016 and was known as a professional surfer worldwide. Honolulu Ocean Safety issued shark warnings in the area following the attack, emphasizing the loss of a legendary waterman.
