Howard University announced the revocation of Sean “Diddy” Combs' honorary degree, discontinuation of a scholarship program, and return of a $1m donation due to his violent behavior towards singer Cassie Ventura. The historic Black institution deemed Combs unworthy of holding their highest honor, citing his actions as incompatible with their core values. Combs, who had previously attended Howard and donated generously, faced legal troubles after surveillance footage showed him attacking Ventura in a hotel hallway. Ventura filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of rape and severe abuse during their relationship. Combs settled the lawsuit and issued a public apology, admitting his wrongs. These events led to Howard University's decision to disaffiliate from Combs, removing his name from all honorary degree recipient lists. The university emphasized its opposition to all acts of violence and emphasized the importance of believing victims the first time.
