Written by Suzanne Collins, the film will delve into the world of Panem 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story, focusing on the 50th Hunger Games known as the Second Quarter Quell, in which Haymitch Abernathy competes. Director Francis Lawrence, who has worked on previous "Hunger Games" films, is in talks to helm the project. The prequel promises to explore the legendary Second Quarter Quell and provide insight into the history of the Games.
