The renowned actor, known for his roles in "Lord of the Rings" and "X-Men" films, was playing John Falstaff in "Player Kings" when he lost his footing and toppled off the stage in front of startled theatergoers. Despite crying out in pain, McKellen was found to be in "good spirits" and doctors confirmed he would fully recover. The performance was canceled, but McKellen was set to return to the stage the following day. The incident occurred during an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Henry IV" plays, directed by Robert Icke.
