With over a month left before the current contracts expire, IATSE and the studios have reached a tentative agreement on a new deal, easing fears of another labor dispute. The negotiation, which began just two days ago, includes wage gains, AI guardrails, and improvements to pension and health plans. The deal also addresses crew safety concerns and includes penalties for extended workdays. Members of IATSE's 13 Locals in Hollywood have been notified of the agreement, which includes scale rate increases, additional pay for extended workdays, and protections around Artificial Intelligence. The tentative agreement will also address the funding gap in the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans. The ratification process will soon begin, with a detailed summary of the agreement to be released to members for review. This agreement, pending ratification, covers around 50,000 members in the West Coast Locals and brings hope for a more stable future in the industry.
