IATSE and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have successfully reached a tentative agreement on all issues for the Area Standards Agreement, ensuring there will be no strike this summer pending ratification. This follows a recent deal on the Basic Agreement, covering around 50,000 mainly Los Angeles-based members of IATSE. The newly agreed upon contract will be reviewed by members and signatories in the coming days, with a Memorandum of Agreement to follow. The agreement, reached after two days of talks, includes the 23 Locals of IATSE across the nation and their 20,000 members. The only remaining Hollywood labor deal to be resolved is between the AMPTP and the Teamsters, with negotiations expected to intensify ahead of the July 31 expiration date of their current contract. Both IATSE and the Teamsters have expressed no interest in extending their contracts to allow for further negotiations.
