Intel has recently announced the discontinuation of the Core i9-12900KS, the world's first 5.8 GHz CPU, along with the entire 10th-gen Comet Lake lineup. The Core i9-12900KS, a "Special Edition" release with limited availability, is being outpaced by newer "KS" successors with higher clock speeds. Intel has revealed that new orders for the Core i9-12900KS will not be fulfilled after January 2025, and the CPU will be officially discontinued by July 2025. Additionally, Intel has put an end to the 10th-gen Comet Lake CPU family after almost four years in the market. Despite the popularity of Comet Lake among certain consumers, Intel has decided to move on to newer generations. The discontinuation process includes various models, and Intel plans to provide support for existing consumers through domestic distribution channels. The era of 14nm CPUs is coming to a close, marking a shift in Intel's strategy.
