Canon has finally unveiled its new flagship EOS R System mirrorless camera, the Canon EOS R1. Aimed at professional photographers in various fields, the R1 boasts a 24.2-megapixel sensor, new processing pipeline, and advanced autofocus system. The camera features a back-illuminated stacked sensor for improved performance and reduced rolling shutter. One of the standout features of the R1 is its innovative Eye Control AF, allowing photographers to move the autofocus area simply by looking at their desired focus point. The camera also offers up to 40 frames per second shooting speed with the electronic shutter and can upscale images to 96 megapixels in-camera. Despite its high-tech features, the R1 maintains some traditional elements, such as a typical image sensor and CFexpress Type B card slots. With a price tag of $6,299, the Canon EOS R1 is set to compete with other top-of-the-line cameras in the market.
