Startup Surreal Interactive, led by computer vision expert Zhenfei Yang, is set to launch Surreal Touch, a 6DoF tracked VR controller for Apple Vision Pro. The controller aims to address the lack of tracked controllers for the headset, enhancing its capability for gaming and immersive experiences. Utilizing advanced tracking technology with two fisheye cameras, the controller boasts less than 10mm positioning accuracy, comparable to industry leaders such as Meta and Valve. Surreal Touch is designed to work seamlessly with Apple Vision Pro and PC VR, offering a unique interface through the visionOS app Surreal Link. Despite some bold marketing claims, Surreal has demonstrated the controller's functionality in videos for popular games like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx. Preorders are set to open in August, with the potential to transform Apple's VR ecosystem and open new possibilities for VR enthusiasts.
